Frustrated by Today’s Housing Market? Asking if you will be able to survive high rates, fluctuating inventory, and endless house hunts? Fearing Failure?
If you own a property or are in the process of buying one, you know what I am talking about. Who among us has not experienced challenging moments while searching for our perfect home? That moment when we ask ourselves: “Is this the point I should quit?”
These questions can arise for several reasons: frustration over uncountable hours spent in touring homes that don’t seem to fit our needs; fear that financials won’t work, considering the high prices, high mortgage rates, and increased cost of living of today’s market; or from deeper reflections and uncertainty about life and future market conditions.
It is precisely in these moments that we feel immobilized, trapped in a loop of doubts that end up clouding our ability of judgment. We come to a halt because of the overwhelming fear of failure. And it is in this exact moment that we allow these feelings to prevent us from living the lives we’ve dreamed of.
So, how to move past our fears?
This overwhelming feeling is our survival instinct kicking-in. This is the space between a false sense of self-preservation and reality.
How to recognize the signs that what is happening is purely created by our own subconscious and fears, and break this cycle? How can we actually transition back into moving towards our goals and having clarity about the situation we are in?
By confronting ourselves. By having the courage to ask the difficult questions and answering them with honesty. We then can understand that this is a natural part of our journey. When facing the unknown and finding resistance, we unconsciously tend to put forward the worst case scenarios as a self-defense mechanism. Questioning everything we fear and answering the questions with integrity can help us gain clearer insight and better understanding of the actual situation. This helps in making informed decisions or addressing challenges more effectively. Another helpful action is to involve a trusted neutral party to support us assess the reality of the situation: re-assess financials; develop a list of needs and features that will meet our needs and bring insights that we have not been able to see on our own.
In summary, act with courage, break down your journey into smaller planned steps and take control of creating your future. You may need to take smaller steps. But you can do it!
